Laminaria

When I first started knitting, oh about a little bit more than a year ago, I said to myself that I would never knit a lacy shawl. And now, what is on my needles?  A lacy shawl. Knitting out of madeline tosh lace yarn. The yarn is absolutely wonderful but it feels like I'm knitting with thread.  It's quite funny, but after 3 rounds of doing the blossom chart, my stitches are finally correct. In my head, I was insistent that the designer must have written the pattern incorrectly because my stitches did not  match up. Finally by the time I repeated the pattern 3 times, I noticed my mistake and of course the pattern was correct.

Again, last night I declared that after this shawl, I will not knit another lacy shawl ever again. And lena said, just wait, you will soak it, and block it, and it will be beautiful and you'll knit another one soon enough. Of course I thought she was crazy as I was ripping out stitch by stitch because I had miscounted at the beginning of the row. But now, sitting here this morning, after knitting perfect rows, I'm thinking, hmm, this shawl would look great in a nice vibrant red....
